An internal (non-public) ESOC Navigation Support Office GNSS station.
Location
The antenna is situated on a mast which is drilled into the rocky ground, at less than a km from the village of Raufarhöfn, Iceland
The site is managed by Neydarlinan ohf, operators of the 112 National Emergency Number, the National Tetra Telecommunication Service and the Icelandic Maritime service.
A joint collaboration between Neydarlinan ohf and ESA/ESOC was established in April 2019.
This station complements the ESOC GNSS station installed one year earlier at Reykjavik.
Equipment
The station operates a Septentrio PolaRx5 receiver and Septentrio Chokering B3E6 antenna, providing multi-GNSS tracking from this location: GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS.
